Minimal (originally, minimal techno) is a form of electronic dance music that is considered a minimalist derivative of techno or a subgenre of techno. Minimal techno focuses on rhythm and repetition instead of melody and linear progression. This style of dance music production generally adheres to the motto less is more.
Minimal techno is thought to have been originally developed in the early 1990s by Detroit based producers Robert Hood and Daniel Bell. Robert Hood describes the situation in the early 1990s as one where techno had become too “ravey”, with increasing tempos and loosing its original sound.

What every Trance fan should know

When did Trance music begin? The answer to this question is very well disputable, and can take more than musicians, historians, and paleontologists working together to find the correct answer – if any. Some say the first true Trance singles came from Germany in the 90s with Age of Love – “Age of Love” and Dag Lerner and Rolf Ellmer’s Dance 2 Trance – “We Came in Peace”. Others say that Trance originated earlier, in the form of Klaus Schulz’s mixes with names such as En-Trance (1987) and Transfer (1981), while the rest go way back to India in the late 1960′s, and declare that Trance originated as a pre-form of Goa-Trance with its repetitive loops and ambient sounds. What every House fan should know
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Right about when John Travolta’s film “Saturday Night Fever” went big, people were taking off their shoes to boogie and getting ready for a new way to get down. Straight from The Warehouse, a nightclub in Chicago that existed from 1977 to 1982, came the soulful and euphoric sounds now known as House.
It was born once the underground scene had already stepped off Disco at the end of the 70s, and was beginning to develop a new style of music that was deeper, rawer and designed to make people dance. It blended soul, R&B, funk, with celebratory messages about dancing, love, and sexuality, all underpinned with repetitive arrangements and a steady bass drum beat.
